Course Introduction

This hands-on training program introduces participants to the fundamentals of 3D modelling and digital product design using Shapr3D.

Participants will learn practical CAD (Computer-Aided Design) workflows used in modern product development, prototyping, and 3D printing. The course is designed for beginners and focuses on real-world product creation through guided exercises and project-based learning.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to create accurate 3D models and prepare files suitable for prototyping and additive manufacturing workflows.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of CAD and 3D modelling
  • Navigate and utilise the Shapr3D interface efficiently
  • Create accurate sketches and parametric geometry

Module 1 — Introduction to Shapr3D

  • Revolve and loft tools
  • Chamfer and fillet applications
  • Shell and offset operations

Module 4 — Product Design Workflow

  • Design considerations for manufacturing
  • Workflow optimisation techniques

Module 5 — 3D Printing Preparation

  • STL and OBJ export preparation
  • Model validation and checking
  • Print orientation fundamentals
  • Introduction to slicing workflow

Module 6 — Final Practical Project

Participants will develop a custom product or object concept from ideation to final 3D model output.
